2005 Season

Repertoire – Chiaroscuro: Symphonic Dances in Shades of Darkness

Chiaroscuro is based on “Chiaroscuro: Symphonic Dances in Shades of Darkness”, by Robert Sheldon.  In the visual arts, chiaroscuro refers to a technique that contrasts bright illumination with areas of dense shadow, derived from the Italian words “chiaro” (light) and “oscuro” (dark).

The work is comprised of four interconnected movements, taking the viewer from menacing shadows under moonlight through the first light of the day, followed by the festive nature of midday and the celebrations that permeate the night.

Capital Regiment took 15th place at DCI Division I Finals with a score of 81.40.
