"I have been around drum corps since I was four years old.  In the summer of 99, I was one of the lucky 39 people to march Capital Regiment.  I felt such a sense of home that I came back for three more seasons.  Making the decision to not march in 2003 was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but I knew that I could still call Capital home.  Since then I have kept in touch with a number of my fellow members and staff.  I feel fortunate to have had that experience and to have these people in my life."

"Hi, my name is Kevin Swahn and I marched Mellophone during the 2006 season with Capital Regiment. Marching with Capital was one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences in my life. I was 16 when I auditioned, and had no idea of what to expect other than the shows at the end of the season. As the season went on I learned valuable time management skills, along with being able to get along with people from all over the country. We had some tough times throughout the season, but I never thought twice about it, never looked back and complained, but pushed forward and got over the obstacle that was in my way. Drum Corps and Capital Regiment was a family environment where everyone had to work together in order to accomplish a goal. I met some amazing people, traveled across the country and had the time of my life. The eleven and a half minutes that we had on the field every show was amazing, and worth every second in the hot sun rehearsing for hours on end. There's nothing like giving your all into YOUR show, and getting a standing ovation in return. Even though Capital Regiment is not fielding a corps this summer, I received a spot in the Madison Scouts Hornline to continue marching in Drum Corps. If I hadn't had the experience I did with Capital Regiment, I might not have been offered a spot. I thank all the members, volunteers, staff and directors who helped create the 2006 season, and I wish Capital Regiment luck in future years."
